Raiatea sightseeing tour

When you visit Raiatea, it is worthwhile exploring the interior, travelling around the coast or exploring the lagoon by boat. And a visit to Taputapuatea to learn about its history is a must while you are on the Sacred Island because it is the most emblematic place in Polynesia and, according to legend, the place from which the culture spread across the entire Pacific Ocean.

A tour of the interior provides an extremely enriching route filled with beautiful views of the vegetation, the lagoon and even the adjacent islands. And with a bit of luck, you will be able to see the famous Tiare Apetahi flower, endemic to the island and now a threatened species.

Touring the coast is also highly recommended. In addition to a visit to the emblematic Taputapuatea marae, you will enjoy the amazing land and seascapes from a wide variety of scenic viewpoints.

Useful information

You will need transport to tour the island. We would advise you to take a guided tour because visiting the center of the island and then trying to find the archaeological sites can be difficult if you don’t know the route.
