Discover Rangiroa

Located in French Polynesia in the South Pacific Ocean, Rangiroa is the largest atoll in the Tuamotu Islands. The island has a worldwide reputation as an excellent site for diving, especially in the Tiputa channel to the south of the capital. There you can dive with dolphins that literally jump and play around you and approach to within a foot.

The large lagoon and its tens of miles of coastline provide countless magical places such as the Blue Lake – a must-see – where you can take stunning photographs as reminders of a landscape far from the noise and bustle of so-called civilization, where the blue of its waters is even more incredible than anyone has a right to expect.

Map of Rangiroa

Rangiroa is located in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. It is also the main island of the second-largest atoll in the world, consisting of roughly 250 islets. This makes visiting the atoll as a whole extremely difficult. The area between the capital Avatoru and the Tiputa channel in a small town of the same name where the approximately nine-mile-long road is located is the most extensive transitable area. The airport is roughly midway between the two towns. The atoll’s relief, being divided into various isles, is not really suitable for travelling around by one’s own means, but the main parts can be explored with ease by bike or scooter. This map shows the island’s most interesting features for your trip.
