Huahine is an island located in the Society Islands archipelago in French Polynesia in the South Pacific Ocean. It is known as the Woman Island because of the profile that part of its landscape forms when viewed from a certain angle. The island is divided into Huahine Nui and Huahine Iti, separated by a beautiful bay crossed by a bridge that joins the two parts.
The impact of tourism is less noticeable here than on the neighboring islands.
It was originally called Matairea, which could be translated as Happy Wind; you only need to observe its inhabitants to understand why.
